Obtaining a NCPHRF Certificate

Wether you are racing the beer cans at your local club, participating in the YRA Summer Series, or embarking on an ocean race down the coast, you will most likely need a Northern California PHRF certificate. Help with NC PHRF Measurements

Obtaining a NCPHRF certificate does require several measurements be taken of your boat, including rig and sail measurements. The NCPHRF Committee has published a guide which defines their required measurements and provides detailed instructions on how to properly measure your boat. It is recommended that you download and review the document before sending in your application.

CURRENT NCPHRF RULES & GUIDELINESupdated 03/07
If you need further assistance with measurements, please contact the YRA office.

New Boats applying for a rating, which do not have a base rating on file with the NCPHRF Committee, or Boats that have been modified or customized must be reviewed by the NCPHRF committee. Committee meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month, except for July. All applications and supporting documents for the committee´s review must be received in the YRA office by the first Wednesday of the month.

Appealing a Rating

A yacht’s rating or a competitor's rating may be appealed to the NCPHRF Committee. There is a fee for filing an appeal to cover the administrative costs and committee time to review the boat. When the rating of another yacht is being appealed, a copy of the form will be sent to the owner of that yacht, who will not pay a fee but will be asked to fill out the same form prior to the meeting at which the appeal will be heard. All appeals must be in writing on the official NCPHRF Appeals Form.
